There was vote-packing, and other irregularities, as well as a lot of bald-faced lies, during the Southern Baptist Convention’s so-called Conservative Resurgence, too; it was as vicious, unprincipled, and underhanded as the old Tammany Hall. This is because theological disputes are not susceptible of objective resolution by appeals to reason applied to facts. Only force can settle disputes.
This is why I have insisted for years that there will be no political truce with the Evangelical Right; they must be defeated and put out of polite society.
