If you can bear it, watch the speakers at a rally held just today in downtown Raleigh in support of the odious HB-2.
Lots of talk about standing firm for the Lord, the way God made people, dimestore theology, Bible quoting, et cetera, et cetera. Anybody who thinks this is about anything but Pious malice for everybody who is different is out of his mind; that is all this ridiculous law, and cost, have ever been about. Recall Barry Goldwater’s famous remark:
On religious issues there can be little or no compromise. There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God’s name on one’s behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent.
These morons will never compromise, they will never seek common ground; they have the sickness, and they have it bad.
If the spreading boycott, and loss of convention business, and abandoned plans to move here continue to grow … they will pat themselves on the back, take pride in the mighty work they are doing for Our Invisible Friend, and fall asleep at night wondering just how much treasure has been set aside for them in Heaven.
You cannot reason with these people; reason is the tool of the wicked. They must be defeated.
