An orphanage operated by Catholic nuns in Scotland may be the site of a mass grave of 400 children.

The Scottish child abuse inquiry is to investigate claims that the bodies of at least 400 children from a home once run by Catholic nuns are buried in an unmarked mass grave.

The high infant mortality rate has raised concerns about conditions at Smyllum Park orphanage in Lanark, which was operated by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul.

It probably is too soon to draw conclusions, but if the allegations prove to be true it won’t be the first time, or place, that a home operated for the benefit of homeless children turned out to be a sink of sadism and premature death.

Dateline: La La Land

What do you know? Even as Holy Men are tripping over each other to point fingers at the people whose sin is responsible for this year’s devastating hurricanes, an American actress put the blame where it belongs: God is punishing Texas because it chose The Donald in the 2016 election.

You may be certain The Godly aren’t taking that presumption upon their expertise in the metaphysics of meteorology lying down. No.

LA LA LAND 9/9/17 – Yep, it’s official. President Donald Trump caused the deadly hurricane that struck Houston. It is all his fault doncha know. Film actress Jennifer Lawrence made this clear on Channel 4 in London at the site of her latest movie premiere, Mother.

Yep, President Trump’s a rascal by golly, who causes nothing but destruction and can even manipulate nature that to our knowledge is only manipulated by God. These movie stars seem to think they ARE God who can advise us on all issues and stick their noses into the politics of our country which most of them do not have to live under.

Here is another daffy Hollywood “star” who thinks she is qualified to analyze all activities politically, support those who would make all America Communist as she remains in gated communities while enjoying mass wealth.

So there. Feel the love-love-love, and shut up and pay your tithe.

Pious stupidity

A Michigan woman has died following a decision to carry her pregnancy to term rather than seek treatment for brain cancer.

Carrie DeKlyen, 37, chose to forgo clinical trials and chemotherapy to treat brain cancer, since it would have meant ending her pregnancy. Feeding and breathing tubes were removed on Thursday, one day after daughter Life Lynn was born. Carrie had been in a coma since July.

[ … ]

“We’re pro-life,” he [Ms. DeKlyen’s husband] told the Detroit Free Press. “Under no circumstance do we believe you should take a child’s life. She sacrificed her life for the child.”

Granted: The treatment for brain cancer may not have been effective, and she may have died anyway. But before ooh-ing and ahh-ing about she and her husband’s godliness, spare a thought for the people left behind and the lives she and her husband stupidly chose to make harder; their six children have no mother.

I swear, religion soils everything it touches.

When life imitates art

With Holy Men going around pointing their fingers every which way — Gays! Abortionists! Democrats! — to identify the ‘guilty’ party being punished by some god or other with Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Tom Rich decided to have some fun and announce that Jacksonville, Florida, pastors had declared a ‘tithing vigil.’ Ante-up your 10% right now and — Who knows? — He might send Irma in some other direction. Or, maybe, park the storm over Cuba and let it spin like a colossal stump-grinder till it’s out of energy, or something like that.

Jacksonville, FL (WD) – Watchdog Press has learned megachurch pastors in Jacksonville, Florida will hold Thursday what they are calling a “tithing vigil” to prompt the Lord Jesus Christ to steer Hurricane Irma away from Jacksonville.

“I have known for some time that the terrible rate of tithing among church members will eventually bring our city to destruction,” said Stuart Weems of Collaboration Church. “The Lord’s patience can only be tested so long – and now it looks like we will be paying the price unless His people belly up to the pew and pay their tithes.”

What do you know? Mac Brunson (First Baptist Church, Jacksonville) actually did tells his peeps to get their money in electronically before fleeing for their lives. Go to the last two minutes:

So far as I can tell, FBC-Jax is doing the right things, providing shelter to the needy and a protected place to park cars. Good for them. But tying it to a money beg is crass. After all, it costs next to nothing to open the parking garage or let people sleep on the floor of the church, and the food is all donated and tended by volunteers. Nor, of course, will the church now be absorbing the cost of transporting the stuff to Houston. It’s nice to be nice, but that shouldn’t be a cynical cover for opportunism.

Shocking theology-related tweet of the day

I can’t believe something like that could be part of His Mysterious Plan.
