The Real Clear Politics average of polls is clear — Donald Trump owns the shutdown, even if he has tried to renege on his promise to be accountable.
This would not be a bad time to recall that multiple deals have been thrashed out, and won bipartisan approval, and Trump reneged at the last minute every single time. If there were a grown-up in the Oval Office, or if Republicans were willing to shoulder their Constitutional obligations and act like grown-ups themselves by overriding a veto, the shutdown could end.
