Feel free to mess with Texas

Texas Senator Ted Cruz, a man …

  • Whose wife was slandered and threatened by Donald Trump, and …

  • Whose father was accused of participating in the JFK assassination by Donald Trump, and …

  • Who was himself dubbed “Lyin Ted” by Donald Trump …

… has totally surrendered whatever scintilla of manhood he ever possessed and disgraced himself by writing an effusive blurb for Time magazine about the magnificence of — Guess who? — Donald Trump.

The fact that his first year as Commander in Chief disoriented and distressed members of the media and political establishment is not a bug but a feature.

The same cultural safe spaces that blinkered coastal elites to candidate Trump’s popularity have rendered them blind to President Trump’s achievements on behalf of ordinary Americans.

Granted, Ted Cruz is a politician; he gargles with oleo. What is more, he is a Dominionist, an especially devout species of Christian that is more deeply committed to self-abasement than even the average Southern Baptist.

But this is squalid by even the dismal standards of politics and piety. I am reminded of Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush’s endorsement of Trump, though the nominee had grievously abused his parents. Don’t mess with Texas? Puh-leeze. The fact in plain sight is that Texas Republicans will humiliate themselves and kiss anybody’s ass, including the ass that shits on their family.
