Sick to see mega church pastors preach on James 4:11-12 and use that to tell peeps they are speaking against God if they speak against “spiritual authority” in the church. So glad clear-thinking people like Rachel Denhollander don’t listen. https://t.co/qTN3AZtRHW

The text of James 4:11-12, KJV, follows:
11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
To cite this verse to uphold the “spiritual authority” of pastors seems clearly to be a perversion of the text’s plain meaning. But, then, it makes sense once you grasp that Christianity is simply a cult that made it big. The 1st-century church was a cult, and the New Testament is the literature of a cult.
