John Piper: “You either treasure Jesus above all, or you’re not saved. If you don’t value Jesus above everything else, you don’t have saving faith.” pic.twitter.com/ifVAo0yhnV

Well … we’ve all heard some variation of this before. “If pleasing Jesus does not come ahead of your children, then YOU’RE NOT THE PARENT YOU SHOULD BE.” And, “If pleasing Jesus is not more important to you than your spouse, then YOU’RE NOT THE WIFE/HUSBAND YOU SHOULD BE.” And, “If your career is more important to you than serving Our Invisible Friend, THEN YOU’RE NOT A REAL CHRISTIAN.”
Et cetera, et cetera.
As I’ve said many times, most people have too much sense and decency to be good Christians; it’s the ones who don’t that you have to watch out for. And, of course, the cynical cult-leaders they listen to.
