Oh, boy

The learned pastors at Baptist Voices are discussing whether or not this year’s abnormal hurricane season is evidence of His disapproving judgment on America.

The correct answer is, No, you idiots. After all, climatologists were predicting that what is a 500– to 1000-year storm would become the 100-year storm, and that the 100-year storm would become the 10– to 25-year storm, long before the Obergefell decision. People with a technical background will get this: Basically, climate change is moving/has moved storm intensity and frequency one log-cycle to the left.

But these clowns who don’t understand a bit of this are trying to puzzle it out and, so far as I can tell, actually believe they’re having an educated conversation about something important, quoting Job and Isiah and Matthew as if those ancient texts have something to tell us about it. It would be allright if they were merely harmless eccentrics, but they are community leaders who influence votes — and they’re idiots whose resolute ignorance affects public policy-making in a harmful way.
