Anybody who doesn’t think the Trumps are greenlighting violence against journalists is an idiot. That is exactly what they are doing, and there will be (more) violence against journalists. And the point, undoubtedly, is to suppress scrutiny of the Trumps. This is Banana Republic stuff, a national disgrace, and an existential threat to the country itself; it must never, ever, be normalized. Of the many dangers America faces in a modernizing and evolving world, the gravest danger is Trump himself.
