Indiana’s RFRA

Would y’all be surprised to learn that Indiana’s fix of its controversial RFRA act is drawing mixed reviews?

From a news report in the Indy Star:

The business community and civic leaders throughout the state had overwhelmingly opposed the law, which they feared would have allowed discrimination against the LGBT community. But they embraced the fix unveiled by legislative leaders Thursday morning …

The fix provides that “sexual orientation and gender identity will be explicitly protected in the new law.”

Russell Moore, the head of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission:

It doesn’t get much balder than that: Conservative evangelicals wanted a special right to discriminate.
