Here’s a helpful rule-of-thumb you can use to see if you’re making this error: If you truly understand that you were born no damn good, with hearts filled with unseemly lusts, and that the cosmos is offended by the bald fact of your putrid existence, you can pretty much assume that if you get out of bed eager to get going in the morning, happy with your life, your career, your spouse, you’re probably “of the world” and fast-tracking to hell.
