I’m no fan of either Donald Trump or Pope Francis, but my sympathies lie with the Pope in the fracas du jour. Francis was quite right that The Donald’s plan isn’t exactly Christian.

In fact, I share the view that our border must be secured; with no border, the American southwest becomes nothing but an ungoverned territory.
But, the Pope is right: That’s an un-Christian attitude. As for making Mexico pay for it — what’s not going to happen; it’s all bluster.
So, anyway, The Pope’s criticism of The Donald was on the money — and The Donald is some kind of peeved about it. I downloaded this from Trump’s Web site, by the way, so unless it’s been hacked this is authentic.
UPDATE: You really can’t make this stuff up: Jerry Falwell — yeah, Jerry Falwell! — has just instructed the Pope that he should keep religion out of politics.
