Kim Davis may indeed be a victim — but she is most certainly not the victim of religious persecution. She is the victim of theocrats in patriots’ clothing exploiting her as a canary in the coal mine called Theocracy as they continue to see just how far they can go in turning this nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all people are created equal into “a form of government in which God or a deity is recognized as the supreme civil ruler.” [Rev. Susan Russell]
As I have argued for years now, militant fundamentalist Christians are a clear and present danger to the nation. As they become increasingly marginalized and more citizens flee their ugly version of Christianity, the likelihood for violence will increase. [Michael Hamar]
But, of course, Michael is gay and I am unapologetically skeptical, so the Godly folk aren’t going to listen to anything either of us says; we are (dum-da-dum-dum)… others.
What is needed is for moderate Christians — that great bulk of self-identified Christians who have too much sense and decency to allow themselves to be exploited by cynical predators like Mike Huckabee — to step-forward, confront the egregious dishonesties of their Holy Men, and explicitly disavow any association with this nonsense.
