Tikrit

The fight is on.

Iraqi soldiers and allied Shiite militiamen swept into the Islamic State-held city of Tikrit on Wednesday, launching a two-front offensive to squeeze extremists out of Saddam Hussein’s hometown in a major test of the troops’ resolve.

Explosions and heavy gunfire echoed through Tikrit …

I guess we’re about to find out what we got for all that money we spent on training and arms. ISIS has no friends anywhere on earth, and they cannot prevail against the entire world; their doom is inevitable. The question is when they go down, and at whose hand. For my part, I’m hoping the Iraqis prevail and can soon begin the work of rebuilding their own country in their own image.
