In a bid to obstruct same-sex marriages, a just-introduced Michigan bill would require that all marriage certificates be signed by a clergyman.
Republican Representative Todd Courser from Lapeer County says one of the bills would require that a clergy member sign any marriage certificate in Michigan.
“I’m completely traditional marriage – I believe that the traditional marriage is really God’s model for marriage.
One wonders how a man so ignorant of American history — Does he actually not know that this is by Constitutional design a secular state? — could get elected to any position of responsibility. The explanation of it, I suppose, is that most Americans, or Michiganders at least, don’t know very much about the country they live in, either.
