I used to think that at least some of this hyperbole was theater, a device for rousing the rabble. I’m not so sure any more. I suspect, now, that he identifies the country with himself and construes a threat to his ego as an attack upon the Good Ol’ U.S. of A. His preening, his vanity, his exaggerations, his “truthful hyperbole,” on and on, have slipped to bona fide madness.
