Where are the most executions? In the Bible Belt, where the culture is shaped by Christian love-love-love.
This should come as no surprise to anybody; after all, there is a lot of malice embedded in Christian thought. What is more, survey after survey finds that every social and family pathology ever named is most acute in the Bible Belt. The bottom line, then, is that there are proportionally more troubled, crime-prone people in the south, and they’re surrounded by malicious ignoramuses.
For my part, I don’t have a problem with the death penalty per se; there are people who will never be redeemed, and whose crimes merit death. The Innocence Project has shown dispositively that a lot of people on Death Row were wrong convicted, however, so I am totally out of confidence that our judicial system can be trusted to properly identify those people, and for that reason I oppose the death penalty.
