A learned discussion of the question by a bona fide theologian associated with SEBTS. Basically, if y’all could just get a grip on the reality that y’all are no damn good, and do as you’re told … why, everything would be fine.

If this is mostly gag-me-with-a-spoon nonsense, it is nonetheless what seminarians are being taught, and what they’re telling their congregations.

I don’t think I’d go so far as to rank Michigan as America’s #1 state — I’m from Detroit, after all, where there is, on average, one murder a day — but I enjoyed this sweet aside about the Upper Peninsula (where I went to college).

Far too much of the Michigan narrative centers on Detroit and its many issues. The Motor City’s become a scrappily rising underdog you can’t help but root for, but Michigan’s greatest strengths lie in the state as a whole. Did you know Michigan has more coastline than any state other than Alaska? Did you know it has such an embarrassment of beer riches that you can easily hit Bell’s and Founders in the same afternoon? Did you know the UP is so remote and uniquely beautiful that it almost feels like a secret 51st state where they inexplicably love British meat pies? Did you know most residents are more than happy to apologize for Kid Rock? If you answered yes to at least three of these than you already understand Michigan’s charms. If you answered no to these questions, you should listen to the dulcet tones of Michigan tourism pitchman Tim Allen and get yourself there immediately.

They are hucksters to the bone. Nothing about them means what they say it means, but boy they are excellent at faking sincerity.

§346   (1) The so-called pure instinct for knowledge of all philosophers is dictated to them by their moral “truths” — is only seemingly independent.

(2) The “Moral Truths”, “thus one ought to act,” are mere states of consciousness of an instinct which has grown tired, “thus and thus are things done by us”. The “ideal” is supposed to re-establish and strengthen an instinct; it flatters man to be obedient when he is only an automaton.
