I have made the argument, in a post I keep updating, that Honest Evangelical Scholarship is a Ruse. There is No Such Thing! John Schneider, former professor emeritus of theology at Calvin College, said of it on Facebook: “I agree with John W. Loftus to that extent. There is no such thing. Like Islam, evangelical Christianity cannot survive intellectual honesty and freedom.” Schneider, just like several other professors in various evangelical colleges before him, was forced to quit teaching at Calvin College due to his honest admission that the Adam and Eve story is myth.

Modern Biblical scholarship raises so many blinking-neon objections to Biblical inerrancy that, when combined with the progress of science, the matter must be considered settled: the traditional Christian narrative is untrue. Add that incontestable falsity to the cult-like ethics, and it isn’t difficult to understand why religion is the source of so much contemporary discord.

Ask yourself a simple, straightforward question: If George Wallace were around today, would he be campaigning for the Presidency as a Republican or a Democrat?

We all know the answer to that; of course he would be a Republican.
