Dismal theology-related tweet of the day

Multi-year study!? Of a made-up Jack and the Beanstalk tale that every educated adult on earth knows perfectly well is untrue? Good grief. What a waste — and what harm that waste has worked on those who are affected by these ignorant fools.

More death-wish theology

Pastor Dave Miller was unhappy with a Christmas program he attended because, even though it was Jesus-centered, there wasn’t enough of that good ol’ Baptist death-wish theology.

You can talk about Jesus all day, but if you don’t face your sin through the blood of Christ, if you don’t acknowledge Christ as Lord over every area of life, if you don’t die to self to live to Christ and his purposes in you, then all the Jesus talk in the world is just empty and meaningless.

I sat through a wonderful concert tonight, one that was filled with Jesus Christ, but empty of a Savior who is Christ the Lord.

Note that: “If you don’t die to self …”. Your aim should be the total annihilation of your self-interest and self-direction, because your self is no damn good; you must strive to become an aimless mote of dust, blown hither and yon according to His will.

Bah.

Prank of the day

Who knew that stuff is in the Bible?

The skeptics have been right along: Nothing undoes the Inerrant Bible like actually reading it.

Dismal theology tweet for the day

Albert the Pious alerts us that he’ll be dealing with that headline today.

I modestly predict that he will point out the following:

  • We are all no damn good.

  • His ways are mysterious.

  • So there.
