As a former Republican and activist within the Republican Party of Virginia, the selection of Corey Stewart as the party senate nominee underscores the sad reality that the Virginia GOP has become as insane as a rabid dog.
Corey Stewart is an outspoken, plain-vanilla racist, a tumble or two down the slippery-slope from the thoroughly indecent Buffoon-in-Chief. Unhappily, he also is the truth about what the GOP has become.
Apparenty, He has come back. Unfortunately, somebody mis-spun the transporter dials and He came back as a horseshoe crab.
I mean … bummer.
Apparently, enough attendees at #SBC18 were unhappy enough with Mike Pence’s speech to attract the attention of the Christian Post:
Vice President Mike Pence’s speech before the Southern Baptist Convention is being criticized by many as being too focused on politics and President Donald Trump.
At a speech before the SBC annual meeting at the Kay Bailey Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, Vice President Pence gave remarks that centered heavily on touting the Trump administration’s accomplishments.
I suspect what has happened with the Pence speech is that there were a handful of vocal objectors, but most of the attendees were fine with it. Recall this tweet:

Pastor Jack Graham tweeted, “The @VP Mike Pence is a Godly and dedicated public servant who inspired the #SBC and blessed us with words of encouragement. So very glad he honored us by coming and delivering a message that rocked the house.”

Though the average Southern Baptist will never admit it, the SBC has been authoritarian and cult-like ever since the so-called Conservative Resurgence; the exemplar for that is their teachings about marriage.
Well, the witless schmucks who fall for that sort of thing have been poached by Donald Trump; same fools, just a different authoritarian promising ‘salvation.’
