{"id":9441,"date":"2018-12-20T12:51:24","date_gmt":"2018-12-20T17:51:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=9441"},"modified":"2018-12-20T12:51:24","modified_gmt":"2018-12-20T17:51:24","slug":"bloggers-make-jesus-lonely","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=9441","title":{"rendered":"Bloggers make Jesus lonely"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a story from the <i><a href=\"http:\/\/thewartburgwatch.com\/2018\/12\/19\/macdonald-v-roys-and-the-case-of-declining-conversions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wartburg Watch<\/a><\/i> that, if I encountered it someplace else, I&#8217;d probably dismiss out-of-hand as make-believe.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Today, I spent some time going back over the stories surrounding the lawsuit that James MacDonald\/HBC (hereafter knowns as JM\/HBC) have filed against the bloggers. An action by JM\/HBC made me sit up and take notice. Religion News Service posted Harvest Bible Chapel sues bloggers for spreading \u2018false information\u2019 on 11\/8\/18. How had I overlooked this? Many people who read this blog, myself included, like to discuss theology and this one fits the bill. I highlight the section of particular interest to me.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The plaintiffs asked a judge for a restraining order to stop the defendants from publishing information about MacDonald and the church while the lawsuit moves forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefendants\u2019 false and defamatory statements have <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">a negative impact on Plaintiffs\u2019 ability to convert new persons to the faith, maintain their congregation and raise the funds necessary<\/span> to operate,\u201d the petition claims.<\/p>\n<p>The judge denied the request.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So &#8230; I guess evangelicals&#8217; enthusiasm for the First Felon is grounded partly in a shared hostility to a free press.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a story from the Wartburg Watch that, if I encountered it someplace else, I&#8217;d probably dismiss out-of-hand as make-believe.
