James Dobson says a Supreme Court decision upholding same-sex marriage could lead to civil war<\/a>.<\/p>\n James Dobson, the founder of the Religious Right behemoth Focus on the Family, warned in a recent conference call with fellow anti-gay activists that a Supreme Court ruling in favor of marriage equality could lead to a full-blown civil war.<\/p>\n After Janet Porter, the creator of a new \u201cdocumentary\u201d about how the gay rights movement will outlaw Christianity, discussed her \u201crestraining order\u201d campaign to convince Congress to strip the Supreme Court of its authority to rule on marriage cases, Dobson said that his fellow activists \u201cneed to be realistic about what we\u2019re up against here.\u201d<\/p>\n He said that the gay rights issue has reached an unprecedented \u201clevel of intensity\u201d and put the country on the brink of conflict: \u201cTalk about a Civil War, we could have another one over this.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Dobson was once a respectable man, and his Focus on the Family<\/i> ministry has actually given a great many people the help they needed when nobody else would; it isn’t merely his grandfatherly radio persona that has made him so popular.<\/p>\n But his activism turned him into a cartoon; Focus on the Family<\/i> was right to show its founder the door.
