{"id":702,"date":"2015-04-13T06:56:09","date_gmt":"2015-04-13T10:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=702"},"modified":"2015-04-13T06:56:09","modified_gmt":"2015-04-13T10:56:09","slug":"tips-for-becoming-a-nuisance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=702","title":{"rendered":"Tips for becoming a nuisance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chuck Lawless, Dean of the Graduate School at Southeastern Seminary, has observed that some evangelicals just don&#8217;t evangelize the way they ought, and has put together some <a href=\"http:\/\/betweenthetimes.com\/index.php\/2015\/04\/13\/pastors-people-passions-and-prayers\/\" target=\"_blank\">helpful advice<\/a> for restoring the fervor.<\/p>\n<p>Here is my favorite:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>At least once a week, take a couple of hours to see your community with God\u2019s eyes. Drive around, praying as you go. If you see worship sites for other world faiths, <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">grieve for those who worship false gods<\/span>. Pray for the children and teens who attend schools you pass. Go to a local shopping center; sit and watch the shoppers. See them as <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">sheep without a shepherd. Pray for them<\/span>, knowing you may be the only person praying for those folks that day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>How do you designate that time in your organizer?  &#8220;Drive around grieving and weeping&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>Deliberately or not, Lawless has put his finger on the psychological trick exploited by prayer and self-improvement books from <i>Think and Grow Rich<\/i> to <i>The Secret<\/i>: Obsess, and mobilize the subconscious to change behavior.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chuck Lawless, Dean of the Graduate School at Southeastern Seminary, has observed that some evangelicals just don&#8217;t evangelize the way they ought, and has put together some helpful advice for restoring the fervor.
