{"id":5247,"date":"2016-12-16T11:56:44","date_gmt":"2016-12-16T16:56:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=5247"},"modified":"2016-12-16T11:56:44","modified_gmt":"2016-12-16T16:56:44","slug":"inerrancy-all-or-nothing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=5247","title":{"rendered":"Inerrancy: All or nothing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is interesting: Albert the Pious upholds in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.albertmohler.com\/2016\/12\/16\/briefing-12-16-16\/?utm_content=bufferbf8d3&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=sbtstwitter&#038;utm_campaign=buffer\" target=\"_blank\">todays radio broadcast<\/a> something that I&#8217;ve insisted for years &#8212;  Inerrancy is an all-or-nothing claim.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>He [Thomas Jefferson] referred to the biblical teaching concerning the virgin birth of Christ as \u201cartificial scaffolding\u201d and that argument has been picked up over and over again. We have to consider <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">the consequences of that argument. If Jesus was not born of the virgin then the Bible cannot be trusted<\/span> when it comes to telling us the story of Jesus, and <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">that mistrust cannot be limited<\/span> to how he came to us in terms of the incarnation. The fact is that biblical Christianity and ultimately the gospel of Christ <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">cannot survive the denial<\/span> of the virgin birth.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What do you know?  Even a stopped clock <i>et cetera et cetera<\/i> &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Marketing lies inevitably fail, and &#8216;inerrancy,&#8217; establishing the priests&#8217; authority interpreting incomprehensible nonsense, is probably the greatest marketing lie of all time &#8212; and it has failed.  Science has so constricted the field of operation of The Almighty that he is now no more than a bothersome carnival barker.  Good riddance.
