{"id":4920,"date":"2016-10-19T10:48:48","date_gmt":"2016-10-19T14:48:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=4920"},"modified":"2016-10-19T10:48:48","modified_gmt":"2016-10-19T14:48:48","slug":"if-you-live-in-the-city-chances-are","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=4920","title":{"rendered":"If you live in the city, chances are &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; that ambient light has prevented you from ever seeing the Milky Way galaxy.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/feature\/goddard\/2016\/hubble-reveals-observable-universe-contains-10-times-more-galaxies-than-previously-thought\" target=\"_blank\">According to NASA<\/a>, you&#8217;re missing-out on viewing 1,999,999,999,999 other galaxies, too.<\/p>\n<p><center><img src=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/full_width\/public\/thumbnails\/image\/p1639ay-goodss-160930.jpg?itok=MDEmja_C\" width=550><\/center><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The universe suddenly looks a lot more crowded, thanks to a deep-sky census assembled from surveys taken by NASA&#8217;s Hubble Space Telescope and other observatories.<\/p>\n<p>Astronomers came to the surprising conclusion that there are at least 10 times more galaxies in the observable universe than previously thought.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And, since each galaxy is comprised of billions of stars, many of them with a solar system of planets orbiting around them, the likelihood that there is other life &#8220;out there&#8221; is far greater than previously imagined.<\/p>\n<p>It isn&#8217;t very likely that we&#8217;ll ever meet our neighbors, but it is very near to a statistical certainty that we are not alone.
