Do I love the glory of God more than my own earthly pleasures? That is the crucial question. Is the glory of God a greater pleasure to me than the pleasures that marriage offers?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I believe, contrarily, that anybody who thinks that pleasing an Invisible Friend is more important than his or her wedding vows is a damn fool who isn’t actually married at all, though that is what every Holy Man in Christendom demands — that you never be married.<\/p>\n

What they actually believe in is clergy-supervised animal husbandry, a cosmic grant of permission for sexual intercourse in order to procreate and grow the cult. They affirmatively condemn the mutual loyalty and shared ambitions that make a relationship a marriage, because those things undermine the supremacy of the cult in the member’s life.<\/p>\n
