The Baptists are getting revved for Vacation Bible School, because that&#8217;s when they do the most baptisms and <a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/SbcVoices\/~3\/4z_nHwk23Ds\/\" target=\"_blank\">get their numbers back up<\/a> (Baptists count baptisms as an index of a preacher&#8217;s effectiveness).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a sad indication of how, though Baptists swear up and down that the Bible is inerrant <i>et cetera<\/i>, <i>et cetera<\/i>, and drive around with obnoxious bumper stickers, few actually know anything about their beloved religion.  After all, objecting to baptism below the age of reason &#8212; and grade school age certainly doesn&#8217;t meet that test &#8212; is one of the great Baptist distinctives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oh, boy.
