{"id":3356,"date":"2016-03-06T16:42:27","date_gmt":"2016-03-06T21:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=3356"},"modified":"2016-03-06T16:43:07","modified_gmt":"2016-03-06T21:43:07","slug":"do-it-yourself-abortions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=3356","title":{"rendered":"Do-it-yourself abortions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As anybody with a brain the size of a dried-up pea could have predicted, interest in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/03\/06\/opinion\/sunday\/the-return-of-the-diy-abortion.html?action=click&#038;pgtype=Homepage&#038;clickSource=story-heading&#038;module=opinion-c-col-left-region&#038;region=opinion-c-col-left-region&#038;WT.nav=opinion-c-col-left-region&#038;_r=1\" target=\"_blank\">do-it-yourself abortions<\/a> is on the increase as evangelical-dominated states piously make abortions more difficult to procure in the name of protecting women&#8217;s health.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody should be surprised, either, to learn that the trend is strongest where the churches are strongest &#8212; in the Bible Belt.<\/p>\n<p><center><img src=\"http:\/\/www.BobFelton.com\/images\/diyabortion.jpg\" width=600><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The same areas will undoubtedly be highlighted when abortion-related deaths of healthy women are next tabulated.<\/p>\n<p>This is one issue on which Bill Clinton actually got something right: Abortion needs to be safe, legal, and rare.  But the evangelicals will never go along; they think outlawing abortion is a hill to die on, all the while telling themselves, and anybody stupid enough to listen, that it&#8217;s all about love-love-loving babies.  It isn&#8217;t.
