{"id":2936,"date":"2016-01-13T22:10:14","date_gmt":"2016-01-14T03:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=2936"},"modified":"2016-01-13T22:18:06","modified_gmt":"2016-01-14T03:18:06","slug":"huckabee-his-election-would-undermine-evangelical-fundraising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=2936","title":{"rendered":"Huckabee: His election would undermine evangelical fundraising"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is precious.  <a href=\"http:\/\/thewartburgwatch.com\/2016\/01\/13\/mike-huckabee-models-the-confusion-surrounding-evangelicals\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Huckabee complains<\/a> that evangelicals aren&#8217;t supporting his campaign because, <i>Damn!<\/i>, if elected he would implement policies which put their ministries out of business.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cA lot of them, quite frankly, I think they\u2019re scared to death that if a guy like me got elected, I would actually do what I said I would do, and that is, I would focus on the personhood of every individual. <\/p>\n<p>We would abolish abortion based on the Fifth and 14th Amendment. We would ignore the Supreme Court\u2019s same-sex marriage decision.\u201d Huckabee said that, as a result of his presidency, evangelical organizations would no longer be able to galvanize their supporters and fundraise. \u201c<SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">A lot of these organizations wouldn\u2019t have the ability to do urgent fundraising because if we slay the dragon, what dragon do they continue to fight?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And so, for many of them, <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">it could be a real detriment to their organization\u2019s abilities to gin up their supporters and raise the contributions, and I know that sounds cynical but, Todd, it\u2019s just, it is what it is<\/span>,\u201d Huckabee said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Uh-huh.  Like, who knew that religion is a predatory goddamn racket and the evangelical right are their witless pigeons?<\/p>\n<p>This is a Southern Baptist pastor, a former governor of Arkansas, a winner of a couple primaries 2-election cycles ago, a current presidential candidate, and a former FOX News talk-show host; in this particular, I&#8217;m willing to take him at his word.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is precious.
