According to the SBC, the priesthood of the believer is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbc.net\/resolutions\/872\" target=\"_blank\">vested exclusively in the pastor<\/a>, who is the expert on what is and is not false teaching.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>WHEREAS, The doctrine of the priesthood of the believer can be <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">used to justify the undermining of pastoral authority<\/span> in the local church.<\/p>\n<p>Be it therefore RESOLVED, That the Southern Baptist Convention, meeting in San Antonio, Texas, June 14-16, 1988, affirm its belief in the biblical doctrine of the priesthood of the believer (1 Peter 2:9 and Revelation 1:6); and<\/p>\n<p>Be it further RESOLVED, That we affirm that <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">this doctrine in no way gives license to misinterpret<\/span>, explain away, demythologize, or extrapolate out elements of the supernatural from the Bible; and &#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Basically, if you don&#8217;t catch Pastor Bubba with his pants down &#8212; literally, and not even then if it involves children &#8212; you&#8217;re stuck with him.<\/p>\n<p>This reminds me of Albert the Pious&#8217; teaching that there&#8217;s <i><u>no right<\/u><\/i> to leave a church except for false teaching.<\/p>\n<p>Seriously: Why does anybody regard these self-aggrandizing hot dogs as anything but objects of ridicule?
