A Washington Post<\/a><\/i> story reveals that the First Felon was “confused” by his staff’s lack of enthusiasm for the January 6th<\/sup> attack on the Capitol.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt took him awhile to appreciate the gravity of the situation,\u201d Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), one of Trump\u2019s most loyal supporters, said in an interview with The Washington Post two days after the riot. \u201cThe president saw these people as allies<\/span> in his journey and sympathetic to the idea that the election was stolen.\u201d<\/p>\n

That same day, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) told conservative radio broadcaster Hugh Hewitt that it was \u201cnot an open question\u201d as to whether Trump had been \u201cderelict in his duty,\u201d saying there had been a delay in the deployment of the National Guard to help the Capitol Police repel rioters.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs this was unfolding on television, Donald Trump was walking around the White House confused about why other people on his team weren\u2019t as excited as he was<\/span> as you had rioters pushing against Capitol Police trying to get into the building,\u201d he said, indicating that he had learned of Trump\u2019s reaction from \u201csenior White House officials.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
