{"id":12770,"date":"2020-10-28T15:08:08","date_gmt":"2020-10-28T19:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=12770"},"modified":"2020-10-28T15:09:17","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T19:09:17","slug":"any-lie-will-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=12770","title":{"rendered":"Any lie will do"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is true: The Trump administration lists &#8220;ending the COVID-19 pandemic&#8221; as its top <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/523013-white-house-science-office-says-trump-ended-covid-pandemic-as-us-hits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first-term accomplishment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The White House science office listed &#8220;ending the COVID-19 pandemic&#8221; as the top accomplishment of President Trump&#8217;s first term, even as the U.S. has set records for new daily infections and numerous hospitals across the country are stretched to their breaking points.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release intended to highlight the administration&#8217;s science accomplishments, the Trump administration said it &#8220;has taken decisive actions to engage scientists and health professionals in academia, industry, and government to understand, treat, and defeat the disease.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is so egregious, so incandescent, so reminiscent of the flagrant lies of totalitarian states like the Soviet Union and North Korea, that it&#8217;s revealing: these people don&#8217;t care that we know they&#8217;re nothing but a pack of corrupt frauds.
