{"id":12429,"date":"2020-07-23T16:20:35","date_gmt":"2020-07-23T20:20:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=12429"},"modified":"2020-07-23T16:20:35","modified_gmt":"2020-07-23T20:20:35","slug":"christian-deep-thinker-the-end-justifies-the-means","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=12429","title":{"rendered":"Christian deep-thinker: The end justifies the means"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A piece at the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/voice\/5-reasons-why-christians-should-feel-comfortable-voting-for-trump-in-2020-237951\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christian Post<\/a><\/i> argues, basically, that Christians should vote for Trump because the end justifies the means.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p> I\u2019ll admit that <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">in 2016 I abhorred the man\u2019s behavior and I certainly wasn\u2019t confident that Donald Trump would be the conservative policy-pusher<\/span> that the Christian-right wanted.<\/p>\n<p>But I have no reservations now, and, my brothers and sisters in Christ, neither should you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Read that again, let your mind steep in it, try to comprehend the squalor of a mind capable of writing such words.<\/p>\n<p>Like Albert the Pious His Very Self, the author of this piece was skeptical of Trump in 2016.  But now, after &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>The child-separations and imprisonments, and &#8230;<\/p>\n<li>\n<p>The mismanagement of America&#8217;s response to the pandemic, and tens of thousands of avoidable deaths, and &#8230;<\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Thousands of documented lies, and &#8230;<\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Damaging the NATO Alliance, and &#8230;<\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Mobilization of secret police, and &#8230;<\/p>\n<li>\n<p>On and on &#8230;<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230; why, The Donald seems Downright Dandy!  Verily, the end <i>does<\/i> justify the means!<\/p>\n<p>By the way, I&#8217;m still waiting for some believer to step forward and show me where Christians are authorized in the Inerrant Bible to make deals with the Devil.<\/p>\n<p>Better than anything I&#8217;ve read in a long while, this editorial captures perfectly the moral and intellectual squalor of the Evangelical Right.  Trump <u><i>must<\/i><\/u> be put out of office in November, and this squalid pack of self-serving pious frauds need to be shoved to the margins of our public life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A piece at the Christian Post argues, basically, that Christians should vote for Trump because the end justifies the means.
