{"id":11457,"date":"2019-12-02T11:12:36","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T16:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=11457"},"modified":"2019-12-02T11:12:36","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T16:12:36","slug":"manufacturing-contraction-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=11457","title":{"rendered":"Manufacturing contraction continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Manufacturing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/12\/02\/ism-manufacturing-november-2019.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">continues to contract<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Manufacturing activity continued to lag in November amid a lag in inventories and new orders, according to the latest ISM Manufacturing reading released Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The reading came in at 48.1 vs. an expectation of 49.4 and the previous month\u2019s reading of 48.3.<\/p>\n<p>Though the ISM reading is usually reported as a simple number, it actually denotes the percentage of manufacturers planning to expand operations. A reading below 50 represents contraction; November was the fourth straight month below the expansion level.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think anybody is surprised by this; the manufacturing slowdown has been well-known for months now.<\/p>\n<p>Soon, layoffs.  The Trump administration will blame it on economic uncertainty associated with his impeachment but &#8230; No.  Manufacturing is merely settling back to where it should have been all along, less the sugar-high provoked by that insane tax cut.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manufacturing continues to contract.
