But John Bolton has a different story:<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, &quot;Let&#39;s talk about it tomorrow.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; John Bolton (@AmbJohnBolton) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AmbJohnBolton\/status\/1171455806069305346?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 10, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Apparently, Bolton was startled to learn that he had resigned.  Well &#8230; who knows?  Trump lies for the sheer joy of lying; he lies when he doesn&#8217;t need to lie; he lies when it&#8217;s against his interest to lie.  So I don&#8217;t think The Donald&#8217;s account can be assumed out-of-hand to bear a close resemblance to reality.  On the other hand.
