{"id":10696,"date":"2019-07-31T13:39:23","date_gmt":"2019-07-31T17:39:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=10696"},"modified":"2019-07-31T13:39:59","modified_gmt":"2019-07-31T17:39:59","slug":"meet-my-neighbors-ctd-31","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=10696","title":{"rendered":"Meet my neighbors, <i>ctd<\/i>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wral.com\/unlicensed-nc-company-with-troubled-history-gets-4m-to-house-migrant-children\/18513234\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oh, boy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Within 45 days of the facility opening its doors, state officials gave its operator, New Horizon Group Home LLC, hours to shut them again, saying <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">conditions presented \u201can imminent danger to the health, safety and welfare<\/span>\u201d of the boys housed there.<\/p>\n<p>Yet barely one year later, <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">the federal government awarded New Horizon a $3.9 million grant to house up to 72 children<\/span> \u2013 migrant kids navigating the Trump administration&#8217;s border policy alone.<\/p>\n<p>The federal Administration for Children and Families, which oversees the Office of Refugee Resettlement, awarded the grant to New Horizon despite the fact that <SPAN style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a8f2f5\">the company has gone months without a required state license<\/span> to house any children.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Did the Feds visit this place before handing-over a pile of money?  Did they ask to see licenses?
