{"id":1037,"date":"2015-05-12T13:53:05","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T17:53:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=1037"},"modified":"2015-05-12T13:53:51","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T17:53:51","slug":"baptists-losing-market-share","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobfelton.com\/?p=1037","title":{"rendered":"Baptists losing market share"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The just-released PEW study of religion in America finds that religious Americans are twice as likely to <a href=\"http:\/\/baptistnews.com\/culture\/social-issues\/item\/30077-study-says-baptists-losing-their-market-share\" target=\"_blank\">leave a Baptist church<\/a> as they are to join one.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>For every American who joins a Baptist church, two others who were raised Baptists are leaving the denomination, according to a Pew Center Report released May 12.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This should be no surprise; as religiosity declines overall, it&#8217;s only reasonable that the most fundamentalist denominations would feel the most severe pinch.  The thought process probably goes something like this: &#8220;I can&#8217;t stomach all that crazy stuff Al Mohler says any more, but the Methodists might be allright.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Then to the Presbyterians, the Episcopalians, perhaps the Unitarians &#8230; and then out the door for keeps.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The just-released PEW study of religion in America finds that religious Americans are twice as likely to leave a Baptist church as they are to join one.
