Virtually all of the major religions have apocalyptic End Time scenarios, cataclysmic events in which the wicked outsiders finally get what’s coming to them. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, in fact, borrowed freely from each other and then modified the storylines to accommodate local circumstances.
I’ve begun turning my attention to the non-Christian apocalypses. I expected some difficulty researching Buddhism, and indigenous American tales, and the Mayans but never imagined I couldn’t walk into a local bookstore and pick-up something covering the Islamic end of days story.
Nope. There are lots of books written by Christian apologists that provide a cursory, and condemnatory, treatment but not one serious, scholarly text written by a Muslim at the local Barnes & Noble. That surprises me. We’re in a global war against Islamic fundamentalism and Americans are so little interested in Islam that Barnes & Noble doesn’t have a single title in stock?
