A Lutheran pastor, Missouri Synod, had been reprimanded for participating in an ‘interfaith service’ by praying at a vigil for the victims of the Newtown massacre.

Morris’ church is a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and the denomination’s constitution prohibits ministers from participating in services with members of different faiths.

LCMS president Matthew Harrison wrote in a letter to the Synod that “the presence of prayers and religious readings” made the Newtown vigil joint worship, and therefore off-limits to Missouri Synod ministers. Harrison said Morris’ participation also offended members of the denomination.
You can see the problem: When your personal club possesses the Eternal Truth it is cheapened, soiled, actually debauched by interaction with the lesser folk who mistakenly believe that they, too, are bona fide Christians. Or … something like that.
It is their club, et cetera, et cetera, and they can have any rules they like; if Morris broke them, they had every right to complain. But … seriously: What sort of putrid rodent-being complains about his pastor joining with others to offer comfort to the victims of such a senseless gout of death?
